We want to be your source!
Please take a moment to think about how you would finish this sentence:
“Public radio in Louisville is my source for…”
Be as creative as you like. We’re interested in hearing your story - how WFPK, WFPL and WUOL have made a difference in your life or a special listening experience, or why you rely on us as “my source.”
great music I can’t hear anywhere else.
news from the BBC.
an amazing variety of music that keeps listeners educated on emerging and important artists without making music snobs out of anyone (really, how can we be snobs when we’ve got Guilty Pleasure of the day and Snow Monster?). It’s my source for news of incredible shows from Feist at The Brown to the more intimate experience of Jose Gonzalez at The 930 Listening Room. It’s even my source for hearing my own friends’ music played alongside legends. Thanks for making me feel even more at home in Louisville. Keep it up!
artists I can’t hear anywhere else on the radio.
the most beautiful music in the world - classical music!
Nada Loutfi’s Saturday program. Some familiar and much not-so-familiar music, selected and elucidated by a virtuoso graduate of the Paris Conservatory - nothing like it anywhere else. (I listen from Manhattan, via live audio stream.)
Thanks, Louisville and WUOL !
jazz.
great music to get me moving or just chilling out (WFPK), educated and/or informed (WFPL), and cultured and relaxed (WUOL). Most importantly, it keeps me connected in many ways to the community.
Great local and national music not heard on other stations, great talk shows and how about the car guys.
great music, music news and news around the world and in Louisville.
New music and inspiration. I started listening to WFPK sometime in the late 90s after my son and a friend had told me about it. Soon, I was addicted to commercial free radio and found artists like David Grey, Patty Griffin and John Hiatt. It also inspired me to start living my lifelong dream of playing music. I now have a band we just call Tom Boone and Friends and I’m playing every Monday night at the Hideaway Saloon solo and pretty much every weekend with the band. Thanks WFPK.
… a breath of sanity in a very confusing world: When I’ve had more than I can stand of the mainstream, I turn to public radio for a variety in music, news and discussion. The main problem with commercial radio is that the system of ratings and advertising almost requires that once something is popular it must be played to death in order to garner the attention advertisers want for their products. Public radio’s main product is enlightenment for its listeners.
music I know will never bore me.
unsurpassed 24 hour musical inspiration and fine arts information.
the back-story–both for news and music (all three stations).
authentic stories about our shared human experiences
Great music, news and traffic reports, and radio personalities that make the days easier to get through!
the Paws Report
hearing how the rest of the world regards happenings in the US.
connection to the community of people in our region who care enough to try to make a difference
Fair and balanced reporting. Our country is so divided politically and I have listened to other stations for news, but I get a real and fair accounting of the days events with WFPL and NPR
Public radio in Louisville (WFPL) is my source for all that surrounds me locally, nationally, and globally.
Public Radio moves me in a way that no other information source does. It makes me feel, then think, acknowledge, and respond. It is radio I value.
new music by artists nobody else is playing, as well as great features like the earworm, 5 o’clock shadow and my favorite show - Relics.
A balanced approach to the news which, despite the critics who claim it is liberal, delivers facts about issues that are often overlooked by the major network news.
As for the music side, I hear music I can only find on the Internet due to commercial radio’s playlists. Hopefully the format will not change and I can continue to be introduced to new, indie music I can’t find anywhere else. I can live without the jazz, but I understand the need for that format as well.
Thanks Duke!
News from WFPL, and exciting music on WUOL. From new music to the standards, Classical 90.5 offers a great variety!
fuel to keep my mind body and soul satisfied. “What Do You Know” on WFPL keeps my whole family entertained on the weekend family outings. My five year-old son gets excited about Michael Feldman. “Car Talk” keeps us entertained and informed about just what exactly is that noise coming from underneath the hood? “The Splendid Table” gives us crazy ideas on what to do with leftovers and educates us on how to prepare pumpkin meat. Yum! I also can’t miss a show of “This American Life”.
When I’m at work, WUOL is the nice alternative for my clients to hear instead of harsh commercial radio. I also become more educated on composers and artists such as Rossolini, Schumann, and the planets guy, Holt, I think? The name escapes me. I also love “From the Top.” Young virtuosos give me hope.
However, I can not say enough about WFPK!! The variety of music I hear everyday just blows my mind! When my clients are a little more hipper, I listen to Duke, Marion, and Laura faithfully on the weekdays. From Bluegrass, to Techno, and Punk to Americana. WFPK has given me a deeper appreciation for music that I generally would not listen to. I love “The Guilty Pleasure” and the “Five O’Clock Shadow”. And because I’m usually working, Friday’s “Live Lunch” is a treat to listen to. I can’t forget, however, the weekend jazz shows. I love them!
Public radio, in general, keeps me informed of community activities, and upcoming events. This is very important to me, because with my busy life I rarely have time to sit down
and read a daily newspaper or periodical.
What’s best is that it’s all in the most wonderful city in America. Louisville, Kentucky!
correcting my mistakes! I meant Giovanni Rossini, and Gustav Holst. Sorry.
remembering that perfect moment.
a conglomerate of music new and old to me. listening to old songs i love singing out loud and listening intently to be able to sing along with the new.
helping to create the perfect atmosphere, whether it’s enjoying a great novel or sipping a vivacious full body red, I always feel at home!!
everything that the world has to offer. Louisville has the best public radio in the USA. There is no need to tune to any other stations.
exploring the Paris Conservatory with Nada Loutfi! I agree, with Harry in New York — there is nothing else in the world like it! How lucky we are to have this programming in Louisville!
learning about wonderful musicians and bands. It is then great to go see these bands 91.9 has introduced me to.
A music education, for myself and my kids. Where else can you hear music from every era and every genre, back to back. Music is important to our family and WFPK has helped me expose my children to various types of music and artists, all from the comfort of home or home-away-from-home (ie, the car) or live performances (we LOVE Live Lunch!) Plus, it keeps us in touch with community events and the music world at large. Thank you.
The best music and concerts available.
The best music and concerts anywhere!
Class. What other radio station has a host that is also a world renown concert pianist? Nada Loutfi provides your listenerswith exceptionally insightful commentary, and, again, real “class.”
Dr. Pierre LaFleur, Georgetown, KY
Definitely Radio Reader, A Way With Words, and As It Happens. Oh wait, they were all cancelled.
Besides some of my favorites that have disappeared, the nightly BBC, This American Life, Science Friday, and Marketplace are among my favorites. Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me has been a welcome addition that I have missed since moving here.
Also, enough cannot be said about the fine programming of WUOL.
Despite my criticism, public radio in this city is amazing and my family has been TV-free for over two years now, thanks PRP.
music and news I can’t find anywhere else, and people that keep me in touch and in tune with what’s happening in my home town.
Garrison Keillor!!!
Individualism. I love the fact that the music isn’t canned, but that there are real live individual disc jockeys. It is their personalities and tastes in music that makes WFPK special. From Duke’s musical knowledge to James’ humor to Laura’s love of animals to Marion’s enthusiasm to Mark’s world music. It’s all there. Now if we could just get Dr. Johnny Fever….
great streaming music i cannot find on any radio station in my area.
Public Radio and WFPK is my source for cutting edge and over the edge musicians. Examples include Paul Thorn, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Todd Snider, Tommy Womack, James McMurtry, Jason Isbell, Ben Harper and KT Tunstell.
realism.
keeping me informed about the local music scene, whether that means exposing me to artists such as Digby, Cabin, My Morning Jacket, or letting me know where Tim Krekel or Johnny Berry can be seen live this weekend.
music from all over the world: ranging from local musicians to music from across the globe.
WUOL is my source for eclectic and rarely heard orchestrations and melodies on early Sunday afternoons. It’s also my source for the best in the Opera world. Also, WUOL is my source for up and coming local and national artists. Last but not least, WUOL is my source for some of the best on-air talent that can be found anywhere.
jazz and news!
A Prairie Home Companion, ‘Click’ and ‘Clack’ (the Tappet brothers), in depth news including BBC news, stories the others don’t cover. WFPL is the only station I listen to, at home or in the car.
new music and music not found on any other radio stations. its also my source to hear billy h’s voice every once in awhile. hehe. i would much rather hear lauras tho. thanks wfpk.
All types of music that constantly challenges and delights my senses on WFPK. How refreshing to listen to a set of music for an hour and only recognize a small percentage of the artists and/or songs. Johnny Cash - Grateful Dead - Dolly Parton and REM in the same set… are you kidding me?! In all my travels, I have never came across a radio station quite like WFPK. We have a jewel of a station, spread the word to all your friends - local and across the globe!
Michael Young’s Roots ‘n’ Boots. The most dynamite show on radio!
I listen to WUOL while in the car. When home WFPL is on all the time. I prefer Pucini operas and programatic music(something with an easily discernable melody. I don’t like contemporary “classical “music. I don’t have any formal musical training.
finding out what the world thinks of the United States
Daniel Gilliam is amazing as are all our hosts. I miss Louisville and you are my source to keep in touch with Kentucky.
While programming has changed(we lost Karl whose last name escapes me this morning)the 8 oclock spot weekdays,) I throughly enjoy it all. Personal favorite Prairie Home Companion and the Sunday Morning line up!
The best and most knowledgeable DJ’s in this area.
Local, independent music, and “real” journalism, which is hard to find these days. I have been a fan of indie/punk/local music since high school, thirteen years ago. I appreciate WFPK for exposing my rapidly aging self with the music I no longer have the energy to search out.
Music you don’t hear on other stations, news & info, calendars, wonderful personalities = WFPK FUN!
music that my kids won’t automatically turn off just because it’s what their Dad listens to.
a good dose of liberal-leaning news reporting.
Interesting
hearing the finest music anywhere both old and new.Thank You WFPK
Variety!!!…I know its a cliche to say it, but it is truley what is the backbone of this great station. I get a “homegrown and personal” feeling from all the staff which is manifested by the programming.
No, I’ll never listen to anything else except the three great public radio stations in my town.
Variety!!!…I know it is a little cliched to say it, but it truely is the backbone of the programming. The DJ’s all project a sincere homegrown and personal feeling, that unites this great city.
No, I’ll never need to listen to anything else except our 3 great public radio stations here in Louisville.
Kitchen dancing!
Since I found WPFK about 8 years ago, my ears have been opened to whole new world of music. growing up in the 70’s and 80’s and listening to radio stations that played the same thing over and over again got so old, fpk was so cool. Music has always been a part of my life, but since getting turned on and tuned in to wfpk, it has become a HUGE part of my life and my family’s. My kids were little when I started listening, but as they became older, (now 16 & 18), we have been able to share many aspects of the music itself. From taking them to waterfront wednesdays, specific concerts etc, we have made a very important teenage/parent connection, thru music we’ve turned them on to. My son(18 and in college) listens(and turns friends on) to all the wfpk music. My daughter(16) well hopefully there is life beyond DJX, but she does love waterfront wednesdays, my morning jacket, vhs or beta, avett brothers, teagan and sara, etc. so there is hope for her… They have both benefitted from live lunches as well, and getting to shake hands with the band members (i thought my son was going to croke when he met citizen cope and john butler), well that is just totally priceless! My husband Evan, son Cody and daughter Shelby along with myself want to just say thanks. Our family has music from fpk to thank for bringing us closer together!!! THANK YOU!
a unique partnership of superb stations.
This year I am especially enjoying anything Medieval or Baroque to suppliment my mystery reading in those eras. (Check out Beverle Graves Myers’ series - Louisville, KY!; or Margaret Frazer)
good listening
Saturday talk
balanced election coverage
talk of the city and the nation
the affairs of state and state of affairs.
the Latin word of the week
home grown programs

listening to Daniel Schorr’s wisdom.
the seven-word guarantee: Classical music every hour of every day. No matter when I listen or what mood I’m in, WUOL is always there.
Only a Game and On the Media
SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL MUSIC. IT IS MY SOURCE FOR RELAXATION AND LISTENING PLEASURE. THANK YOU.
My car radio is permanently stuck on 91.9 WFPK. I absolutely love the erray of old and new music. What song was that at 9:05pm last night? No problem! The playlist is on the website! How cool is that? I also love, for example, hearing Manic Depression by Jimi Hendrix and -next song - Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves - LOL. I love the Five O’Clock Shadow with the original and cover. That’s always interesting. But most of all, I truly enjoy listening to all of the new music that is unique to this station. I applaud all the DJ’s, as well. You’ve got my attention. Thank You.

News and entertaiment
turning other people on to new things. I pull double duty hosting a karaoke show and sometimes DJ events. On WFPK i hear great new artists and quirky older cuts i may have forgotten about. I use you guys as a cliff notes for some of the things i do. Be it spinning a tune people are NOT so sick of they could die (insert electric slide) or finding a new song to sing. Variety is the spice of life, and you guys are my paprika.
BILL MCGLAUGHLIN. I DIDN’T THINK IT POSSIBLE, BUT BILL IS EQUAL TO OUR DEPARTED FRIEND, KARL HAAS. THANKS FOR BRINGING BILL INTO MY HOME FIVE EVENINGS A WEEK.
Building my iTunes Library.
Public radio is my ONLY source for news, music, and entertainment. Thank you.
awesome music for the heart and ears
hearing great music that I can’t hear anywhere else. I also enjoy interacting with the friendly and accommodating DJ staff (particularly Marion), who have tracked down and played a lot of obscure stuff for me and their listening audience. Keep up the good work, guys! I also enjoy “A Prairie Home Companion” with the great Garrison Keillor on WFPL, et alii. Public Radio for me is an unparalleled source of musical pleasure and intellectual inspiration. Thank you very much.
inspiring conversation, discussion and debate with our two teenage sons.
Every Sunday night is a must for this ol’ boy from Greensboro, North Carolina because of Berk Bryant’s Sunday Bluegrass with the Country Gentleman. I get it via streaming audio. I first met Berk 50 years ago in Lynchburg, Virginia and then lost track of him until a year ago. I played my guitar along to his radio show back then and I am doing it again. I am really enjoying his selections on traditional and old music in addition to his bluegrass choices. Berk also knows a lot of the performers and I feel like he is one of the real experts in the bluegrass side of music sharing many tidbits and stories that only he can share. I hear music on his show I have never heard on any other radio show of any kind. I just love the show and only miss it when I cannot arrange other things to not interfere. Congrats on 19 years, and I hope it goes another twenty years. WFPK is truly fortunate to have somebody of Berk’s calibre on your station. God bless you Berk, the real Country Gentleman.
continuing education. WFPL helps me stay up to date in world affairs, national issues, politics, environmental issues–it’s like a good liberal arts education: experts on many different issues present me with information daily. My only regret is not being able to listen throughout the day every day.
great foods and wines finds from around the country and around the world. With the Splendid Table I not only get the what and where, but the how to from Lynne Rossetto Kasper.
unbiased news and information that is not available through any other news media. I am so much better informed since I started listening to public radio. Thankyou so very much.
My sanity. I have a very stressful job, and WFPL keeps me sane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the greatest music ever played,
vinyl lust in the morning and the greatest DJ’s in Louisville,
one-stop audio shopping
Garrison Keillor & his humor!
reason in the media.
Music selection is beyond good it’s a window to the world.
The news is insightful and enlighting.
Real musicians playing original music or sometimes uncovering an old, forgotten song and twisting it into something new again. Variety of sounds that never make me want to change the dial. Great dj’s with fun programming. Live Lunch. World Cafe. Mostly just happy ears.
DJs that play my requests (even Robert Hazard and the Heroes).
Music that I feel proud to recommend to my friends, young and old. New music that doesn’t force me to change stations. A reminder of how much I miss Louisville.
Sanity.
Classical music just confuses all the other voices in my head.
enlightenment, edification, and old fashioned radio humor that requires an active-as opposed to passive-thought process that is often not found via other media streams. In addition, Public radio allows for level of intimacy that is not possible in other media, a fact not considered until it was already realized. In short, public radio is my source to the rest of the world whether it’s Frankfort or Moscow, or Nairobi.
The BBC world news, positive proof that sun does not come up in New York and set in California
Nada Loufti rocks! I love your Saturday evening program, Nada. Keep it up!
knowledgeable opinions and fresh perspectives on music given by real artists.
Thank you nada.
Quality old Rock ‘n’ Roll, local music, interviews and storys about musicians and music.

Sunday afternoons/evenings - Michael and Berk and David and Keller - who could ask for anything more? (Plus Waterfront Wednesday is really cool too).
News, world events, information not available or reported on mainstream radio or TV, Prairie Home Companion, Michael Feldman, This American Life, Car Talk.
continuous education and enjoyment. I don’t know what I would do without it. The programming is so diverse - both nationally and locally. I have been a member in KY and FL for over 20 years. I thank heaven every day for the person who told me where to turn my dial the first time. I had never heard anything like it before and it has been a wonderful resource and joy to me ever since.
Gospel music on “Working on the Building” Sunday mornings at 5 a.m. with Woodrow.
news in the morning and tunes at night.
a music revalation of the mind and soul.
Awesome music I can’t hear on any other radio station. Great live music!
Authentic radio. (Follow that with the bloopers we sometimes hear from the DJ’s.) Listening to WFPK keeps us connected with the true friends we have in Public Radio. Sometimes our revered friends may misspeak or correct themselves, but they are tuned in to us, their listening audience, in genuine and refreshingly casual connections to our preferences. WFPK is my source for programming that responds to my musical tastes.
Speaking of musical tastes, since you don’t seem to know what to do on Thursday nights, please bring back a bit of weeknight jazz, just that one evening a week. Sunday’s programming is great; perhaps other listeners would enjoy a little more jazz, too. Thanks.
calming moments before and after hectic days teaching high school in Louisville.
great, local in-depth news. We need more of it.
Unbiased, truthful news
WFPK
New music, local music, and all my favorites. WFPK is the ONLY radio station that has introduced my ears to some of the best musicians around, who definetly deserve to be heard. Thank you!
enlightening, in-depth reporting, interviews, and analysis of current events and cultural interests, rarely presented by other media. Listening to 89.3 anytime I am driving around town feels like having a reliable, long-time friend along for the ride. Thanks for the opportunity to “talk back” to my comfortable travel companion!
an enticing variety for everyone listening.
WFPK is my everything, I listen to it when I’m in the car, as soon as I get home, when I’m at school, it puts me to sleep at night. It’s my source of feeling good, that people would find such intricate music and give them a chance, unlike EVERY other radio station. I love WFPK.
Opera, year ’round; wonderful music that often plumbs depths not heard on other classical stations; knowledgeable hosts with great flair; fund raising that is tasteful and respectful of the audience. WUOL is a class act. Kudos to everyone at the station and MANY thanks for being such a wonderful resource. I live in Lexington, teach in Richmond, and love Louisville and WUOL!
variety of music 24 hours and news of cultural events in city
WFPL is my source for knowing that there is a very large and diverse world out there.
Public Radio is my source for satisfying my taste buds for a variety of flavors of music I cannot get through any other listening resources. The assortment of music from (A) Afro pop to (Z) Zydeco with a dash of Kenny Rogers to Little Feat, it is a never-ending buffet of music. I start feasting to the eclectic music on WFPK on my morning commute with Vinyl Lust and the Ear Worm of-the-day and round out my day falling asleep listening to FPK After Dark.
Throughout the day, Live Stream fulfills my needs for a stress-reliever.
Thanks to all the staff at WFPK for making listening to music a true enjoyment.
In addition, WFPL whips up a mean weekend of listening with Splendid Table, Home Grown, and A Prairie Home Companion.

Long Time Listener & Supporter
News about our environment. Kristin Espeland is doing a great job.
I have to add some things:
first and foremost, Fresh Air; Morning Edition and All Things Considered of course; Science Fridays; Julie Kredens is amazing on State of Affairs - where does she find the time to plan and research this variety of shows? I really like Car Talk (of course) and Weekend Edition (Will Shortz’ puzzles are fun, host Liane Hansen is kind and knows when to speak and when to let it flow). Homegrown is usually very good, Bob’s a little goofy, but he’s OK. Diane Rehm has excellent topics and guests. This American Life is frequently fantastic, sometimes odd (in a good way, though). I like PHC, especially the Ketchup Advisory Board and news from Lake Wobegon. Still a big Bob Edwards fan and enjoy his long interviews when I have time to listen in. Wait, Wait.. is usually very good, occasionally great, sometimes meh - part of its charm.
NPR and Woodrow on the Radio.
Saturday afternoon opera and the incomparable hosts Carol Larson and Nada Loutfi.
A set of eyes and ears that lets me learn about a world I wouldn’t have experienced otherwise.
News & Notes with Farai Chideya on Weeknights and The Tavis Smiley Show on Saturdays. WFPL keeps me informed and entertained without talking down to me like commercial radio. I’ve listened to public radio before, but gave up (on most days) commercial radio. I FEEL MY BRAIN CELLS RETURNING DAILY!
absolutely the best variety of music in the world. At 49 you guys are keeping me as “hip” as possible!! I NEVER change the station unless my 13 year old daughter is in the car…..my biggest challenge is going to be converting her from the middle of the dial to the lower end. Any suggestions??!!
Thanks for all you do for our great community.
WFPK is my source for good parenting assistance. Seriously!! Most parents wish they had done something differently in raising their children. My husband and I know we’ve done one thing right though. We have helped our boys develop a love for a wide variety of music and WFPK has been a great resource in this endeavor. Thank-you!!
Having WFPK as “MY” radio station makes me feel great! I enjoy the ability to communicate with real people who I’ve come to know, as well as them knowing me. The music played puts me in a dancin’ mood while I’m drivin’ down the road. Of course I can’t stop, and get out and dance, but I can boogey down the hiway, and make people wonder what I’m listening to. I listen to James when I leave town, and catch Marion, or Laura when I come back into town. It gives me my music fix I need so much. Keep on keepin’ on with what you do, and let’s keep PUBLIC RADIO as long as we can
eye-opening experiences with new and amazing music on WFPK and information I can’t get anywhere else on WFPL. Both are my hub for what’s going on in the world with news, culture and music.
new music, concert alerts(for example the b52’s)
listening to laura shine, local music, peace,
connection to another world.
connection to this and another world.
Bach and Philip Glass. Fresh Air. With Heart and Voice. Harmonia.
….a laugh in the middle of a work day with the Guilty Pleasure.
If all is right with the world, FPK is my source for…sanity on my morning commute; new tunes; old favs; what my kids call emo music; local talent; music to love, live–and clean my house with; a common conversation thread for my music-head friends. It is where I can find Jonatha and Joanne and Joni; Jimi, Eric, Peter, and Paul. (and Steve Earl–who’s that?) You are as comfy as old jeans (luckily the fit will not grow too tight) and as beautiful as spring. And when the earworm or the guilty pleasure is too bad, I can always be the grown up me.
The G.U.M. tunes in to FPL. It is my voice of reason in a world gone mad. I remember needing the melody of Ray Suarez’s voice when my niece was diagnosed with cancer; I remember craving the tenor of Juan Williams when 9/11 blew apart my image of the world and humankind. It is Ira Glass when I am in need of a great story–and hope in humankind restored. It is Lynne Rosseto Kasper when I want to present my family with a splendid meal. It is Kurt Anderson when I am looking for the funky note in my weekend.
Public Radio–there is too much to love. Oh that my dilemma for the day is which station to choose! Thank you for such quality broadcasting. I am a long time member whose appreciation continues to grow at an amazing rate!
James and all his juice and joy in the morning….
a wonderful start to the day.
REAL LIVE DJs
I was just recently traveling in my car from here to the Sunshine State. I actually heard the same sequence of songs on two different stations in two different states at two different times. Everything was canned and the deluge of commercials drove me crazy. There was very little information or talk about the music and/or artists. I love the FPK djs. They all are individuals and do a fantastic job of keeping us informed and “turned on” to new music and contemporary as well as past artists. Listening to radio elsewhere just makes me appreciate WFPK all the more. We are so fortunate and thank you James, Laura, Duke, Marion, Woody, Mark, Michael, Matt, Nick and anyone I accidentally left out. You make WFPK great!
The best guitar music out there. When I went to Crossroads Guitar Festival last summer, I realized that all the artists I heard were also on WFPK. WFPK is my source for Willie Nelson, Susan Tedeschi, BB King, Allison Krause, and Eric Clapton, all in one place.
The morning news, business news, Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me, Prairie Home Companion, Klick and Klack, plus the BBC.
I know I can always trust the news I hear from WFPL/NPR - unbiased, straight forward and very well presented. Keep up the good work!
Music that everybody else will be listening to a year from now.
HAVE BEEN LISTENING SINCE THE BEGINNING, TOOK ME THROUGH LAST TEN YEARS OF MY EMPLOYMENT,RETIRED YOUNG AND BROKE BUT WAKEUP IN THE MORNING AND TURN ON WFPK AND ENJOY THE MUSIC. KEEP IT ROLLING. RICO
Public Radio in Louisville is my source for converations that begin with: “Did you hear that story on NPR about…”
(that’s a lot of conversations!)
Music I can truly enjoy: while driving or streaming as I surf the net. Commercial free and thoughtfully chosen music as if it were just for me. The new, the old, the obscure, it’s found on WFPK!
the only music worth listening to in Louisville, Kentucky!
the best music, the best dj’s, and the best r&r.
New music! Gosh I love you guys.
I would not listen to the radio NEARLY as much if it weren’t
for WFPK. You are my drive to work and home and at home
absolute favorite station. You’re my number 1 button and
the rest have dust on them!!
Peace!
Dan Dobson, Fern Creek USA
Because I love classical music
Duke’s B-Side on my lunch hour, 5 O’clock shadow driving home and World Cafe on my way to school.
amazing “Transnormal Skiperoo” (to steal from Jim White)…that is what I am going to call the experience I always have when I turn on the radio hear an awesome artist/song and whether it be Duke, Laura or Marion on the air talking about why they may like this artist/song…I am having the SAME thoughts…it is eerily amazing!! It makes me sooo happy! Transnormal Skiperoo!! You actually can have a paranormal relationship with these wonderful DJ’s….where else does that happen! Only on Pulbic Radio in Louisville, WFPK!!!
WUOL is my source for extremes and moderation. The extremes are diverse kinds of music, extremely Renaissance, baroque, classical, romantic, or contemporary. You often play what other classical stations refuse to play. However, WUOL is moderate in terms of balance. A symphony is followed by a string quartet by a piano piece. The only response is: What will they think of next? It keeps us on our toes.
Besides that, WUOLoften shows how the different periods fertilize each other, and that is another source of moderation. All these things are why WUOL is one of the best classical radio stations in the country.
Giving local bands a chance to be heard. Thank you.
New music to choreograph dance pieces
